Padua: the city of the Saint without name, of the green without grass and the caffè without doors. Here Saint Anthony is called just “the Saint”, Prato della Valle is actually a square despite of its name and the historycal Caffè Pedrocchi used to be open all day long.
The legend says tha Padova was founded by the Troian hero Antenor, peer of Eneas, whose monumental tomb can be admired in the omonimous square.
Padova si also known alla over the World as the city of St. Anthony, born in Portugal in 1195, who here lived and died in 1231.
The rests of the Saint are preserved inside the Basel of St.Anthony the fifth most visited site in Italy with over 4.200.000 pilgrims visiting each year.
In Padova is also the second oldest university in Italy (fouded in 1222), the biggest square in Europe, Prato della Valle, and you can admire one of the masterpieces of Giotto’s arts: the frescoes of the “Cappella degli Scrovegni” .
But Padova is not only a nice place to visit , Padova is also know for wellness and nature: just a few kms outside the city you can find the famous thermal area of Terme Euganee that attracts every year many tourists from all over Europe.
